Description

A no 1 amazon bestseller and featured on Simon Mayo's Radio 2 book club

"Wonderful conceit, ridiculously entertaining ... an absolute pleasure" T. A Cotterell, author of What Alice Knew

How far would you go to find THE ONE?

One simple mouth swab is all it takes. A quick DNA test to find your perfect partner – the one you’re genetically made for.

A decade after scientists discover everyone has a gene they share with just one other person, millions have taken the test, desperate to find true love. Now, five more people meet their Match. But even soul mates have secrets. And some are more shocking – and deadlier – than others...

"Fantastic ... I can't remember the last time I was simultaneously this entertained and this disturbed. The One is a clever story with great pacing but it's the characters that make this a standout thriller." Hollie Overton, Sunday Times bestselling author of the Richard and Judy pick Baby Doll

"Gripping from the start and full of surprises, this kept us up long after lights out" Isabelle Broom, Heat

(Note: Previously published as A Thousand Small Explosions)

It gets better as it goes on. The characters are rather undefined. It is still quite difficult to put down.

I didn't read this book - I devoured it! I finished it in a day. There are some aspects of the story I accepted only for the purpose of enjoying the book- ideas that clashed with my own (Nature vs Nurture). However the book was convincingly written and well thought out which made giving way to skepticism totally worthwhile. Definitely worth a read.

A good book is when all you want to do is turn the next page. You can't help yourself with this book.

From the first few pages I was hooked! As an avid reader (4 books a month) I like to escape and be entertained. I like to look forwards to getting back into a book after work...this does the trick. Clever and well written. It flows nicely along without any parts that are boring. Plenty of twists and turns that you don't see coming. Can't really delve too many into the plot or it will be a 'spoiler ' . Just read it!
  • I actually loved this book.

First ever cheap book I really enjoyed. Fun & good little stories, that make the whole book enjoyable. I struggled to keep identifying the characters at first but soon the characters stood out. Great price, enjoyed.
