It was meant to be a harmless stag-night prank. A few hours later Michael Harrison has disappeared and his friends are dead.

With only three days to the wedding, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace - a man haunted by the shadow of his own missing wife - is contacted by Michael's beautiful, distraught fiancée, Ashley Harper.

Grace discovers that the one man who ought to know Michael Harrison's whereabouts is saying nothing. But then he has a lot more to gain than anyone realizes, For one man's disaster is another man's fortune . . .

Dead Simple is the stunning first novel in the number one bestselling Roy Grace series from award-winning author, Peter James.

Starts very slowly and then goes on much too long. The supernatural angle is silly and unfortunate and has certainly put me off reading any more of the series.

This is not a book i would normally choose to read, but I heard a few chapters on an audio book at work and had to know what happened! I’ve literally read it straight through, so many switches and turns as the plot thickens! The characters are so well written they are almost relatable.

Very disappointed. So descriptive on the geography and buildings of surrounding area and what the characters are eating or wearing, not enough about the crime investigation. Could condense the book into 600 pages if all the boring descriptions were taken out. Also very repetitive of previous book. The book looses the suspense of the crime.

This book is written in such a way that the reader can follow the story and create their own imagery with incredible ease. I loved the book; I really did struggle to put it down - found myself reading a page between ironing clothes! Fantastic twists and turns and some plot twists made me gasp out loud... Thus making me hungry for the next chapter. This is the first Peter Jones book I have read and after writing this review I will be purchasing the next in the series immediately. Fantastic work.

Excellent book. Highly recommended. Kept me interested as the author made some twist and turns in the story line. Reminded me of some of the Jeffrey Archer novels.

I was actually squirming through parts of this book. Great story, thrilling twists. I started it one day and spent a day off fully absorbed until the end. Can't wait to get into the next one!
