From director Zack Snyder comes “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” starring Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent in the characters’ first big-screen pairing. Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

I know it polarised critics and audiences, but I really like this film. Yes, it's dark and brooding, but why not? We already have the MCU full of fun and humour so it makes sense DC went in a different direction. Ben Afleck is excellent as Batman/Bruce Wayne and the spirit is true to Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns - which is also very dark. The plot is a bit convoluted, but maybe a blockbuster film that requires you to pay attention is a good thing? Like a lot of other films, I think it improves on second watching and the Ultimate Edition makes the character's motives clearer. Find out for yourself and ignore some of the excessive hate. There are some awful superhero films out there, this is not one of them...
  • Actually, this film is loads better watching it a second time round.

First off, when Infirst was this film, I thought it was so bad. The plot made no sense, the pacing was a bit off and it was a bit long winded. I really didn’t expect anything good from this film and I was. SC want to be just as good as Marvel. But Marvel is smarter than DC. They planned out their movies, for years. Developed origin stories and fleshedbthem our. The reason why Cival War worked and BvS didn’t was because the MCU have been at it for years and released about 12 movies before Civial War. That’s why Cival War has a bigger impact. But BvS ha dinky 1 movie before this film. So I felt like they could have waited a bit and then had this film. But watching it a second time is loads better. I think this is because I watched all the previous older Batman and Superman movies and some were ok, some were awful. But yea, this film is what it is.

This film confused me in how bad the story line was. Manly because there wasn’t one and that happens to be very important. Jesse was alright though but Affleck was poor
  • Love it

This film takes everything from the original 1966 movie and eats it all up by having a terrible director, The only good part is Hans Zimmer's music.
  • Extended cut is much much better

Adds more to the film and includes key scenes missing from the theatrical release
  • So much more complex than it's given credit for.

This film starts off well but understated in that sets the mood for Ben Affleck's Batman; a dark, lonely and cruel portrayal of a superhero worn down and becoming defeated by constant crime fighting and the loss of his parents and of Robin (Jeremy Irons' "the fever…." speech is the most powerful dialogue in the film). Henry Cavill's portrayal of a Superman who is beginning to lose the will to save the world creates a vulnerability within the Man Of Steel. Jeremy Irons is a stunning Alfred, no doubt hiding his fears for Bruce Wayne under gallows humour. Lex Luther's Portrayal by Jessie encapsulates well the control, callous logic and disorderly acting out that can plague a psychopath who has experienced a horrendous childhood at the hands of a sadistic parent. But the stand-out performance is by Gal Gadot; the scene in the aircraft where Diana Prince is sitting and just allowing her eyes to express her inner conflict is so understated yet powerful and confirms her acting talent. Superhero Movies are not just Superhero Action flicks; they're about the conflict, good and evil in us all and our constant need and desire to be making a better world, the conflict of how we want to achieve that and how strive to become the best creatures we can be.
