“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

Awesome family film, it fits so perfectly within the Harry Potter universe despite being set prior to the events of the previous films. Can't wait for the sequel!!!
  • Just amazing, no other words ❤️

    An absolute must watch film!
  • I didn't enjoy it.

Eddie Redmayne did a crap Hugh Grant impression throughout this film. If they wanted Hugh Grant, they should have got Hugh Grant. Mind you, Hugh Grant may, like me, not have been able to make any sense of the story at all. A needless sequel, squeezing the last penny from Potter. If you thought The Godfather Part 3 was the best one, you'll love this.
  • Best movie ever

This is an amazing movie. So magical.
  • Very dull

We really didn't enjoy this film. Elaborate computer generated images and action sequences with an overdone sound track. Poorly directed acting and an incoherent story. What a waste of our evening.
  • Self indulgent twoddle!

I don't normally write reviews but was compelled to express serious disappointment with this film. The story line takes forever to get to any point of note and most of the film seems to be obsessed with cgi focussed action scenes that have little interest or point. Clearly this movie trades entirely on the success of HP and has little merit by itself.
  • Confused narrative lacking magic

Rented this last night and felt it was a bit of a confusing meandering film without much purpose. Things seem to just happen without much logic and you are left wondering why the main character dallied in New York if he's in the US. for other reasons. It's not very well written either, but there are some fun sequences and it is good to see a movie with a different narrative arc than the usual quest-, love- or fight-based story.
