Description

Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne. When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.

Some elements are silly, but it's nowhere near as bad as some of the reviews would suggest. Yes you get Ritchie's usual gangster speak and quick edits than can be a bit annoying, but overall, the performances are good and it's entertaining

Awful acting, awful storyline. Arthur is incredibly dislikable and none of the other characters are likeable. The only thing I enjoyed was seeing Katie McGrath in another Arthur-related thing.

Basically Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Breast Plates. Typical Guy Ritchie treatment but for me it didn't work here. It was too modern a touch to make you feel immersed in either the era in which it is set or the fantasy, so you were left with a period dress version of his other stuff. The plot is generic with nothing to surprise. Apart from the odd familiar name and the sword, it's barely Arthurian. Glad the David Beckham cameo was sufficiently short not to expose any cringeworthy acting. Sufficiently mindless pulp to keep you watching, but hardly legendary material.
