MOLLY’S GAME is based on the true story of Molly Bloom (Jessica Chastain), a former Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game for a decade before being arrested by armed FBI agents. Her players included Hollywood royalty, sports stars, business titans and finally, unbeknownst to her, the Russian mob. Her only ally was her criminal defence lawyer Charlie Jaffey (Idris Elba), who learned that there was much more to Molly than the tabloids led us to believe.

I also watched this film with little expectation. The classy advert made it more intriguing. Great acting and a fast passed story line keeps you glued to the action. Well written and great cast. True Class
  • Fantastic true story

Epic, long and true. Chastain is fantastic. There is so much going on, that I had to rewind to keep up with the ‘game’. In the same league as The Big Short. I am not a poker player but this is still fascinating. Epic human behavior and folly. Must be a good book.

Just a really interesting story and something just a little bit different. It has a nice pace to it and interesting characters. I really enjoyed it. Both Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba are on great form and well cast.

  • Chastain is Oscar worthy.

Sorkin manages to put forward a brilliantly orchestrated directorial debut, that gives the impression this could be his tenth feature. The dialogue, while trying to impress a little too much, is brilliantly entertaining. The flair and D.N.A. of David Fincher is very clearly apparent, but it never feels like Sorkin is trying copy, even if the clear comparison of The Social Network will perhaps taint it. Chastain is Incredible, she brilliantly executes a character that is absorbed in so much layered depth. It’s never really clear what is going behind that characters eyes, but with Chastain, you know something is rumbling and bubbling to the top. And if the scene between Costner and Chastain doesn’t almost bring you to tears, then you’re not human.
