Award-winning actress Frances McDormand (Fargo) delivers a stunningly powerful performance in this darkly comic drama that has been hailed as one of the year’s best films. A murdered girl’s defiant mother (McDormand) boldly paints three local signs with a controversial message, igniting a furious battle with a volatile cop (Sam Rockwell) and the town’s revered chief of police (Woody Harrelson)

  • Absolute rubbish!

Not sure what others saw in this film at all. It was so slow and with a totally uninspiring storyline. Just pleased I hadn’t gone to the cinema and paid out an awful lot more.
  • Funny unexpected with some standout performances

I watched this recently once all the hype had subsided and I really enjoyed it, all the cast were brilliant and the script was both funny and dark although the subject manner was brutal, I wanted it to continue which is not often I feel that way about many movies although in truth the ending was a little strange although I can guess it’s not a who dunnit kinda film with no happy ending, so I suppose its justified
  • Quietly Epic

This film is, like its character, a fabulous mix of contradictions. It goes to show that charging in, all guns blazing, isn't always the best course and that making unchangeable judgements of character isn't wise or generous. Lovely and lovelier the more you watch it. And brutal as all hell, obviously.
  • Amazing film

Just as above. Acting first class. Story brilliant. It was only about halfway through when I said to my husband ‘this is a fantastic film’. Not sure I’ve ever interrupted a film or even thought that so early.
  • Wonderful performances.

OK so there are a couple of weird plot things that happen but this is no way detracts from the exquisite performances that are on display. An acting masterclass from McDormand.
  • Excellent drama movie

Surpassed my expectations after hearing that this was a great film. A lot the trailer does not show which is great. Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell are outstandingly good. A really well thought out film.

  • Underwhelming

All the hype, excellent cast, actually underwhelming. Great themes and ideas, but film overbaked and story disjointed. Finished feeling a bit cheated
