Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams star as Max and Annie, whose weekly couples Game Night gets kicked up a notch when Max’s charismatic brother, Brooks (Kyle Chandler), arranges a murder mystery party, complete with fake thugs and faux federal agents. So, when Brooks gets kidnapped, it’s all part of the game…right? But as the six uber-competitive gamers set out to solve the case and win, they begin to discover that neither this “game”— nor Brooks—are what they seem to be. Over the course of one chaotic night, the friends find themselves increasingly in over their heads as each twist leads to another unexpected turn. With no rules, no points, and no idea who all the players are, this could turn out to be the most fun they’ve ever had…or game over.

  • Really enjoyable. Must see movie!

Clever, very well put together, very very funny, chemistry between Bateman and McAdams is fantastic, great acting generally, policeman (Jesse Plemons) is the standout star though! Great soundtrack especially Englebert Humperdinck. Must see!!

  • Totally Crazy, but great fun!

I wasn’t expecting a lot but thoroughly enjoyed the film all the way through. Some of it is cheesy, but it’s one I’ve already recommended to friends as a good fun film.
  • Hit and miss........

........mainly miss, unfortunately. A good cast let down by fairly lukewarm material. The ‘twists’ are more like gentle meanders, the characters are, on the whole, not particularly likeable and the main comedy ‘moments’ just aren’t funny! I can watch most films at least twice but this will be consigned to the ethereal box of ‘once is enough’ films!

  • Laugh-out-loud funny!

No way should this film be as good as this without pre-hype and bigger stars. Weird plot, great cast, amazing gags that reminded me of police squad. Line of the film - ‘Just the keys?’ Watch for it!
  • Excellent!... witty and funny!

This is one of the best comedy action films I've seen in a long time. Great cast and a really fresh feel. Lots of good wit, very funny, great action sequences and some surprising twists and turns! I'd be amazed if anyone doesn't enjoy this film.

  • Seriously? What a waste of time and money

This is a dreadful excuse for a film, I'm usually quite a fan of Bateman with his brand of deadpan humour, and McAdams is usually a decent enough actress too, but this film is just utter drivel. So bad, I turned it off after less than an hour, determined not to waste another minute of my life adding salt to the £9.99 wound. Do yourself a favour and put your head in the oven instead.
