From filmmaker Steven Spielberg comes the science fiction action adventure “Ready Player One,” based on Ernest Cline’s bestseller of the same name. The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.

  • Terrible Adaption

I loved the book which came before but other than characters there were hardly any similarities. Changed the plot/all the puzzles/didn't have any of the best references. A lot of flash and no substance to this film. I found it really disappointing since I loved the book.

  • Very poor

I wasn’t expecting much and I was still disappointed. When it was over, my wife and I looked at each other and wept knowing we had wasted our Saturday night when we could have got an escort over. Ah well. Live and learn.
  • A Blast!

Was unsure about this, put off watching it, glad I did! Sit back and bring on the nostalgia! Predicable, but a laugh!
  • Just Terrible!

Utter rubbish! Too long and totally relies on the CGI to make it interesting. The story is so flakey and gets boring. Sorry but this is just dreadful. Spielberg failed here.

  • Futuristic outlook with old movie and game classics brought to life.

This movie is absolutely amazing in terms of the visuals and CGI/Effects, it’s produce is 5* quality standard, Spielberg doesn’t disappoint. character development is good enough, lacks a bit though, the acting is fairly good too; but what makes this movie is the setting and storyline of the “Oasis” and the fight to the Easter egg. overall we rate this a solid 4.5/5, For the visual presentation and the gripping storyline that intrigues all. Very good movie, Age rating:PG 13

I can’t stop myself from watching it over and over again! Very well made and good enough story line to keep you watching. Throwing in characters and references from all of our favourite movies is a brilliant touch
  • Entertaining Spielberg CG fest

The book upon which this is very loosely based is a super nerdy trip through 80s pop culture, and its a poorly written, amateurish effort. Spielberg's movie perhaps wisely has little in common with the book, ditches most of the 80s references, and fills it with action sequences and breakneck pacing. The results resemble an extended video game cut scene, and it's entraining if rather empty. Classic Spielberg this is not, but it's still worth a watch.
