Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman play retired, down-on-their-luck outlaws who pick up their guns one last time to collect a bounty offered by the vengeful prostitutes of the remote Wyoming town of Big Whiskey. Richard Harris is an ill-fated interloper, a colorful killer-for-hire called English Bob, and Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner Gene Hackman is the sly and brutal local sheriff whose brand of law enforcement ranges from unconventional to ruthless.

  • Best western

    By Elkopi
This is the best western ever, no lie. Clint said that this film represents everything he knows about making westerns and he does know a lot. Performances of Clint, Morgan and Gene are knockouts. The whole atmosphere of the movie and the ending are just great. I can watch this movie over and over again.
  • Close if not the Best

    By Ziderpass
This is close if not the best western ever made, well acted not over the top when it comes to gun play and a fantastic story line with a final shoot out that not even High Noon or Gun Fight at the OK Corral comes close to matching for tension
  • Great Movie

This is in the old fashoin movie where it slowly builds to a great ending. The story is believable and I would not have any hesitation watching it again

I love this film, one of the best westerns although not quite as good a once upon a time in the west
  • Best .Western. Ever.

    By AranG
Shows the West as it must have really been. It builds to a climax more emotionally charged than any other film I've seen. Do yourself a favour and watch this.
  • Amazing

    By JJPms
Unknown fact about this film is that Clint Eastwood was sitting on the script for 18 years before he made the film; John Wayne begged him not to make the film as it would show what the wild west was truly like; an amazing film and for me his finest hour
  • The best western of all time

    By Goth47
I didn't really enjoy this film the first time I saw it but found myself wanting to watch it again. It's become one of my most watched films ever. The final 10 minutes of the film have so much atmosphere it makes the spine tingle
  • Took a second viewing to appreciate

    By billsensei
First time I was left wanting more and a bit disappointed after years of seeing Eastwood in Spaghetti Westerns. Only, after a bit of time I gave it a second viewing and really enjoyed it. Basically, it tore the veneer off what we are used to with hero type old Westerns and gave a glimpse of what it really may have been like, and that is not something I personally would like to experience.
