History comes alive in this supremely entertaining film that garnered eight Oscar nominations including Best Picture. Oscar-winners Robert Redford ("Up Close and Personal," "Indecent Proposal") and Dustin Hoffman ("Outbreak," "Rain Man") play Woodward and Bernstein, the intrepid newspaper reporters who broke open the Watergate scandal and toppled a President. The screenplay by William Goldman ("Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "Indecent Proposal") won an Oscar, as did Jason Robards ("Philadelphia," "Parenthood") as Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee. Featuring an all-star supporting cast, including Hal Holbrook ("Evening Shade"), Jane Alexander ("Kramer vs. Kramer"), Meredith Baxter ("Family Ties"), Ned Beatty ("Roseanne"), Martin Balsam ("Psycho"), Jack Warden ("Heaven Can Wait"), Polly Holliday ("Alice"), Stephen Collins ("Sisters"), Robert Walden ("Lou Grant") and many others.

  • Fabulous movie - terrible transfer

    By dh2005
The movie’s a stone-cold classic political thriller. If you’ve not seen it, you need to. But *man*, the image quality - even of the HD download - is awful. There’s dust and debris crawling all over it, and even an occasional tear in the film - one of the finest movies ever made deserves better than this. Glad I only rented it. I’ll be buying this on Blu-ray.
  • Favourite film of all time

    By Rachel 31
This film couldn't be made these days as the amazing long shots and cinematography would be considered too long but this makes the film. The story is gripping and the fact it's real makes it even more interesting - I'd also highly recommend watching the behind the scenes and I don't usually do that.

One of my favourite films ever; I can watch it over and over again. Eerie, tense, thrilling, just brilliant.
  • Watergate - well crafted Drama by Apple and the Washington Post

I think this is one of best films I have ever watched, Hoffman and Redford are brilliant! Real life political drama, deftly handled on the big screen, my next apple purchase when icloud can save movies, I have no space left on two hard drives, a laptop, a net book 2 iPhones and an iPad, I want this movie expand the iCloud fed up deleting purchases to get more! No more no more!!!!!
  • One of the best films - The Investigation that Brought down Nixon

    By Marwan
This is probably one of the best movies ever made. based on true jounalistic investigation that ended up bringing down Nixon. The acting is subtle and the story moves in pace reflective of the investigation itself. The film has other supporting actors - who seem to be almost like the real thing.
