Still struggling over the loss of their oldest son, Caleb, to the war in Afghanistan, the Peterson family finds some solace when an unexpected visitor knocks on its door. David, a steely eyed and charismatic soldier who was recently discharged, is welcomed into their home when he comes to fulfill a promise he made to his fallen comrade. Siblings Anna and Luke are at first reluctant to accept David’s presence, but he soon wins them over by scoring kegs for Anna’s friends and roughing up some bullies from Luke’s school. Though he appears to be the perfect houseguest, a mysterious and sinister chain of events causes Anna to question whether David is actually who he claims to be.

  • Slick and Fun with an 80s feel

I gues looking at the reviews this film obviously divides opinion. Personally I did like it and thought it didn't take itself too seriously. It had a cool soundtrack and some fun scenes. I think those saying its crap are being very harsh and maybe were just expecting a different kind of movie alltogether. Ultimately don’t expect a plot that will win any awards or oscar worthy acting and so just sit back and enjoy and the fun !!
  • A Bully Victim's Wet Dream

Over the top, over acted and ridiculous but somehow quite good. I can't explain it. It was actually really good!
  • Well worth taking a chance

Very pleasantly surprised. I can understand why it might not be to everyone's taste, but that's what's so great about it - it doesn't try and appeal to the masses. You'll just have to watch and see. Well worth the gamble. Loved it and Dan Stevens aka Matthew from Downton Abbey looks delicious!!
  • Not so good

It's classed as action adventure, but I think action comedy is probably more accurate.
  • If Drive were an 80's horror movie

By far and large the best recent horror movie I've seen. Brilliantly acted, the cinematography is stunning, I can't recommend it enough!
  • Cult 80s B Movie

What a great 80s soundtrack to this film. Cheesy syths and Linn drum sequencing. And then the film. Cultish Noirish Fromage as runny as unpasteurised Brie. Thoroughly enjoyable. Heroic gore-fest. A spoof done so well that Don Simpson should have come back from the dead to produce it. Dan Stepens excellent.
  • John Carpenter with a dash of James Cameron

Dan Stevens is great as the all-American blue-eyed boy who’s here to help the family of a fallen comrade. To say too much is to spoil the fun, but this is a lot of fun! Great soundtrack also.
