The Night Manager is based on the internationally acclaimed novel by master storyteller John le Carré. This suspenseful thriller follows Jonathan Pine, as he endeavours to bring down the notorious arms dealer Richard Roper. Described as “the worst man in the world”, Roper is also responsible for the murder of Pine’s lover, Sophie. Pine is recruited to create a new identity and infiltrate Roper’s secret world of unthinkable power and wealth. His mission to bring Roper to justice, however, is jeopardized when a turf war within British intelligence puts the mission and his life at risk.

  • Good fast pace stuff

A cracking watch, plenty of tension and action
  • Slow and tedious

3 episodes in, the series becomes too slow and laborious to watch. The storyline is ludicrous, the script impossibly dull and at times laughable. Both Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie are somewhat miscast and the overacting is evident. I think if this had been contained to 2-3 episodes it would have been more enjoyable and its shortcomings would be limited. Maybe it just can't live up to its own hype...
  • Entertainment at last

Bit difficult to see Hugh Laurie as a bad guy but maybe that's why he seemed all the more sinister. Great ending too.
  • It's good.

A moreish viewing experience. The author shows his naivety with regard to the female characters, who are a very far cry from real life where there are statistically just as many female psychopaths, sociopaths etc. as there are males. Otherwise this series is an excellent diversion.
  • Thrilling

From start to finish, the £20,000,000 spent on producing this series has been worth every penny. Loved every minute of it!

just enough of the Bond style of today with British undercurrent in the manner of spooks to be make you sit and say YES then buy the season pass. outstanding casting, visuals and writing combine in episode 1 to make this a must watch. this is as good as its pedigree in terms of incredible books made into stunning entertainment for the screen. Excellent Thriller. perfectly crafted.
  • Absolutely Fantastic

Was a bit wary when I heard that Hugh Laurie was the villain. Within minutes he totally won me over! Tom Hiddleston is 007 in the making! A fantastic series best I've seen in ages!!
