Sherlock returns with three brand-new feature length episodes, promising laughter, tears, shocks, surprises and extraordinary cases. The eagerly anticipated fourth series, produced by Hartswood Films, begins with the nation’s favourite detective, the mercurial Sherlock Holmes, back once more on British soil, as Doctor Watson and his wife, Mary, prepare for their biggest ever challenge - becoming parents for the first time. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman reprise their iconic roles as Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson in the hit drama written and created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, and inspired by the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

As most say, good acting but poor story lines with no way forward.. RIP Sherlock.

Could have been so much better, but has become to clever. Why can't we just get back to Sherlock solving crimes.
  • Pure genius.

All these negative comments are trivial nonsense. Yes, season 4 wasn't perfect, and personally, I wasn't a fan of the ending to the final problem. However, this does not mean that the writing wasn't consistently superb, and that the acting wasn't to a high standard. Definitely watch this.

I could go on for ages about how over-the-top and self indulgent this series was, but after series three and the Christmas Special, i'm sure everyone knew where this series was going... Lazy, over-the-top and out of touch with what made Sherlock good in the first place.

Woeful plot, pathetic ham acting, and frankly an embarrassment to everyone involved (including me for caving in to peer pressure and giving S4 the benefit of the doubt, after the useless S1-3). You spend the entire time thinking, "this has to be tongue-in-cheek, they can't actually be taking themselves seriously"... but sadly they actually are. It's not big, it's not clever; it's a waste of time and money. Negative stars if I could.

A waste of talent these three stories are poor. Star gone up it's own backside. The first three seasons were great.

Don't know why this is having poor ratings, it was fantastic, was glued to it start to finish, does take a modicum of concentration though, blink and you miss the whole point, buying the series, watching it all again.

The shark in the aquarium- did holmes jump it?! Let's wait for episode 2, indubitably.... After the mediocrity of the first episode-the show is well and truly back on track. Episode two is absolutely fantastic
