Pleasantly surprised at how genuinely artistic this is. So different from one direction it's unbelievable

What can I say, I liked his single and thought “let’s have a look” and … WOW! What a great surprise. A bit of Robbie Williams, Beatles, Kinks, and some soft rock in there to vary the pace. You won’t be disappointed.
  • Well done, Harry!

  • The boy done good!

As a 38 year old Mum to a 7 year old girl, I've not had a great deal of choice in listening to One Direction. She loves them. She was a bit upset when they split up but, as kids do, they move on to something else. We took her to see 1D not too long ago in Birmingham and, partly due to being at school all day, partly due to being ridiculously excited, she fell to sleep after a few songs, leaving me and Daddy to sit through the rest of the show surrounded by thousands of screaming kids, a snoring one and Mum's who sang their hearts out. To be honest, I didn't get what all the fuss was about. Yes, I'd heard them on Molly's various cd's but that's it. There was nothing I could do but sit and hope our daughter woke up. She did, eventually, and managed to catch the last couple of songs of the encore. In the time she was asleep though, I found myself becoming more and more impressed with these young guys on stage. Perfect vocals and harmonies, great musicianship and they certainly knew how to whip the crowd into a frenzy. Fast forward to now. I'd recently watched Graham Norton and saw Harry Styles perform 'Sign of the Times' and, Christ on a bike, it was bloody good. As a kid, I never bought singles. I bought whole albums off the back off one song/track and hoped the rest of the album would be just as good. That's exactly what I did with Harry Styles. Heard a track. Bought the album. And what an album it is. So diverse. There's folk, rock, funk and pop, all rolled into a short but sweet, 10-track offering. Hints of Beck, Kings of Leon, Prince and Aerosmith glimmer through on certain tracks and I am really, very impressed. I look forward to hearing more from Harry. So does Molly.
