BEST PRODIGY VIDEO EVER!
This video is very cleverly made and is definitely the BEST video by The Prodigy.
It's a shame it got banned but I can understand why due to its controversial content
However, it is still an excellent video
"Carboncreative" you have summed it up in far more words than I have the spare time to write. "Dreedle" you don't have a clue!
its left a 17 year old lad speechless and stomach turning!
The video they banned!
At last its here, my favourite video, its a triumph of its time and I would argue one of the best music videos ever made. Why? It captures the renegade and chaotic nature of the dance scene in the UK at that moment.
Summers of love and hippy dippy acid/trance of the early 90's were well and truly gone, rival gangs controlled doors on clubs selling just about any narcotic you could think of, superclubs like the Hacienda in Manchester could no longer survive paying protection and selling water to pill popping ravers so bars started cashing in on early bird clubbers with cheap alcohol and DJ sets. Fueled by binge drinking and cocktails of narcotics dance had gone dark and anarchistic.
Anyone of aware of the scene at that time will know exactly why this video marks the moment and is still very much viable today. Directed by Swedish film director Jonas Åkerlund the video was allegedly rejected by Liam Howlett of the Prodigy and the group had reservations about its release, they were right to do so, it attracted fierce criticism, particularly in America and was banned by most broadcasters worldwide. The Prodigy found themselves having to make public appologies for the track and its notorious video.
Although the video is shocking its also subversive and clever, buy it, watch it, you will either love it or hate it on many different levels.
I salute iTunes for bringing it to the store!
What a video!!!!
You will never see a better dance video. A must for your collection.
When I first heard the song I didn't really go much on it, but after seeing the video i soon changed my mind! Now I think it's genius!
A little too graphic for my liking but no-one can deny the inventiveness of whoever concieved the idea of this video.
Uncut? Think again
Undoubtedly a great video. However, contrary to the other reviews written on here, this is not the uncut version. There are a couple of scenes missing from the original. For example, in the nightclub toilet scene, we don't see the person shooting up in the toilet cubicle. That seems to have been edited out. Otherwise I would have given this 5 stars.
